2004 predicitions

I’m making a list of 2004 predictions. On January 1. 2005, I would like nothing more than to look at this list and say that I was all wrong.

  • We won’t see a usable desktop Linux.
  • MSIE will remain the dominant desktop-based rendering engine.
  • Search engines will remain fundamentally user-unfriendly.
  • Google will not index Atom/RSS-feeds.
  • Spam won’t go away. Neither will the morons who keep the spammers alive.
  • SCO won’t go away.

Hi,

unfortunately one is already wrong…

If you perform this query on Google you will notice that my index.rdf is indexed right behind the PHP page…

So at least my RSS 1.0 feed is indexed, isn’t it?

happy new year,christoph

Ok. I should clarify: I meant for Google to index and do something useful with the feed, like extracting entries from it, and allow the user to get to the actual HTML page for an entry - much like Feedster does.

And oh, I think they ought to offer Atom feeds of search results as well.
